On the morning of 13 April, I made my way to the harbor station. I had to catch a bus to Kuala Lumpur. My sister had to drive me downtown. I was nervous and excited at the same time. The last time I felt this way was back in 2000 when I left Singapore for Australia. Again I was alone this time.
Upon reaching the harbor, I exchange my confirmation slip for my boarding pass. I was on my way. My sister walked with me to the bus. And watched me board it. As I wave goodbye, I started to miss my car. I have no idea what is ahead of me. Will this trip change my life?
I have never made such big decisions before. Yes, to some this is just like a weekend trip. But to me, it’s a milestone. My route to independence. If I can do this now, I can do anything later.
One of my life long dreams under Concert/Live Performance Section, has always been watching Celine Dion perform. Well to name a few, I would love to watch U2, Aretha Franklin, Radiohead, Beyonce and many others. Having watched No Doubt, The Cranberries, Travis, Coldplay(twice!!), I feel the need to catch The Diva live in Concert. I was disappointed when I found out she’s not stopping over in Singapore. The decision was made about 5 days before her concert in KL commences. My colleague, had friends in KL who was also going for the concert. So I jump on the bandwagon. I really appreciate the help they have offered so far. I booked the bus to leave Singapore in the morning and then catch her concert and get back home on the same day. But I manage to change the dates for my courses, and decide that I could afford to have the time to stay over in KL for the night. So I’m staying at the Renaissance Hotel, situated at the junction of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Ampang. Was there for a family holiday back in December 2006.
I took a walk around KLCC once I reached KL as I still had time to kill before I had to checked in at 2pm. I bought some food, drinks and magazines to keep myself entertained till evening time. But after 30min of walking around I got tired and took a slow walk to Renaissance Hotel. I wished I had booked a room at Hotel Maya instead, just so I don’t have to walk more, but it’s worth the walk lah. Cos it will cost me a bomb to stay at Maya. Hahaha.. I’m still a cheapskate.
Had a short power nap once I checked in. I don’t know why but I didn’t take as many pictures on this trip as I thought I would normally. Maybe I do’t have my camwhoring kaki’s. Well Fizah called me from her hotel room. She was lonely and her meeting will only start at 6pm. If she weren’t so far away… I would have taken another short walk to her hotel. Farkha told me it would cos me about RM30 and abt 30mins to go to Shah Alam. And to get back in KL will talk longer because of the jam. Oh God… the jam… I have no idea how it was when people told me the jam in Singapore isn’t as bad as the jams in Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and so on… I have sent traffic in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur and heard about traffic in Jakarta from Nini… 6 hours in a jam??? I would have killed myself if I was the driver. But I really do like the drivers here. I would like to describe it as they drive their cars dangerously safe. And they never fail to give way, unlike those moron drivers in the LionCity.
So Farkha fetched me from the hotel at about 6pm. And we proceeded to Stadium Merdeka. The next stress momet I went thru was to find parking. Totally in a world of it’s own. It’s sort of messy but somehow they make it work. Had it been in Singapore, I bet the Traffic Police had a field day “saman-ing” people. Just like the Maroon 5 concert. I can’t believe I got fine for $30 bucks. Was hoping those morons(United Premas of some crap) had some compassion left but NO! They do not. I know they don’t have quotas or shit but the more they saman, they better for them.
Then we went to collect the tickets. I felt like a school again when I got star struck. HEY!!! IT WAS FARAH FAUZANA OKIE???!!! I like… and oh yes.. FAZURA TOO!! Hahahaha… okie.. I guess a few of my friends who reads this like start laughing and I WILL NOT HEAR THE END OF IT from u guys… but what the heck… I deserve all these… I’ve been working my ass off and it goes unappreciated.
Let’s get to the concert part… there is no word I this world that can dscribe the performance given by Celine Dion. It was SO DAMN GOOD!!! Fabulous… Incredible… I don’t know. I just want to tell those who did not go for her concert, What. A. Waste. Seriously.
The lighting, the sound, the music, the dancers, the visuals and last but not least the Diva her self. KUDOS TO ALL OF THEM. Celine Dion is GOOD… GOOD GOOD GOOD… I’m still mesmerise by her voice… it was a live performance and she sounds good… hahahah SERIOUSLY.. I can’t stop rambling about it.
Called Kak Imee twice during the show. But towards the end when she sang the French song, no network was available. Fizah called me in the middle of the show, and halfway through the conversation she realise that I was at the concert and she went “Oh my God. Is that Her? Celine Dion?” and I told her yes and I would call her back later.
After the concert we went to Pelita Nasi Khandar. Watched the Soccer match for abit. I was there for all three goals. HEHEHEHE… Anis’ Kampong Boys didn’t let us down. Anis and Umi drove me back to the hotel.
Well the only downside about this trip was that slightly before the concert, my right hand started to tremble. Like shaking… I thought it was because I met many “famous” people or the fact that I was finally going to catch Celine Dion!!! But when it didn’t stop after the concert, it raises some serious concern from me. I hope everything will be okay. Will get this shaking hand to the doctor’s for a check.
I really enjoyed my trip to KL this weekend. Would have loved to stay on for another night and play futsal but I need some medical attention to my hand. The company was great. The late night chat with Fizah on the phone was good. We both can’t sleep. Hahaha…
I would like to give my many thanks to Umi, Anis, Farkha and Dek Ju. Was really afraid of what was to come for me when I left for KL on Sunday. But well it turned out okay and I did have fun with you all. Sorry if I had troubled you all with my presence. Please do come to Singapore soon guys. I’ll give u all a treat you all wont forget.
To Irah: Hey babe.. Thanks eh.. for being the middle person. Aku ingat tugas2 middle man ni hanya during zaman purba. Sekarang pon ader. Nasib baik kau nyer services free-of-charge.
To Halijah and Irah: Thank You for keeping my entertain while I’m on the bus. Sesungguhnya orang lain semua ingat aku gila asyik tersengih je baca sms. Aku tak akan lupa the most important reminder from Halijah. Tapi saying, as luck would have it, dia taken lah. Aku abit disappointed but what the heck, I had fun.
As I look out my coach window, I can see Mt Ophir on my left. Still waiting for me to come visit her once again.
To my heart: Hey dear, you got broken again? Well it’s okie. We’ll go through this together. Like always. We’ll pick ourselves up and move on right? No.6 still pretty open right. Let’s hope and pray.
Okie... I know you all expect more pictures... but i was serious when i said i did not take many pics...
